Practical Security Considerations for Quantum Secure Satellite Communications
Piotr Kolenderski
Professor at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun
Piotr Kolenderski received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Nicolaus Copernicus University (NCU) in Toruń, Poland. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) in Waterloo, Canada, as a laureate of the "Mobility Plus" program funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland.
Since 2013, he has been an Associate Professor at the Institute of Physics at NCU, where he heads the Single Photon Applications Laboratory research group. His research focuses on the generation, detection, and control of single photons with applications in quantum communication, photon-matter interaction, and quantum optical coherence tomography.
Currently, Piotr Kolenderski leads quantum technology projects at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and STARTOVA Sp. z o.o. His group is involved in projects related to optical communication and quantum internet for the European Space Agency.

Founded in 1945, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (NCU) stands as one of Poland’s largest and most prestigious universities. With a diverse academic portfolio, NCU encompasses 16 faculties, including three medical faculties at Collegium Medicum UMK in Bydgoszcz. The university offers a wide range of educational opportunities, providing graduate and postgraduate courses across more than 100 fields of study and 55 specialized postgraduate programs.
